How to break the limitations of blockchain and make it work for commercial websites
Written by: Ami Heines
Blockchain, with the introduction of Bitcoin in 2009 as the first working experiment, was supposed to be a great leap forward with some major technological advancements. It promised a brave new world with increased security and decentralization.
The thing is, it is too slow for ractical use cases, and worse, when an app becomes successful and popular, it causes service to degrade or making it expensive and slow or all at the same time.
Newer versions of blockchain technology were developed which were supposed to solve the issues of the old technology. Most faded into obscurity and some have limited success with nich apps.
There is an open-source blockchain platform that can be installed as a private blockchain on a single server in the cloud for development and prototyping purposes. Of course we’re sacrifycing decentralization and perhaps security to make it efficient and scalable but there are ways to improve on the other features promissed by the blockchain technology.
